Starlight Activities at Dragon Boat Festival
When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, the everyday joys of childhood often take a back seat to the rigors of treatment and hospitalization. With programs like Wishes, Great Escapes and Hospital Happenings, Starlight Children's Foundation touches the lives of seriously ill children and their families in BC more than 3727 times each month! Our programs reach out to children and teens with chronic or life threatening conditions and their families both in and out of the hospital, because we know that when a child is ill, the whole family is affected. We have taken our children and families on train trips, to nights at the aquarium, to concerts, to professional sports games and much more. We have granted the wishes of many of our children, including those to swim with dolphins or to visit Disneyland . Join us at our booth, find out about our programs and how you could help, and enjoy face-painting, balloon animals, arts and crafts for children of all ages. www.starlightcanada.org

The Shanti Uganda Society improves the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of communities impacted by war, poverty and HIV /AIDS in Uganda.

We value:
Community Participation: All projects are locally initiated and supported with a deep sense of solidarity and ownership. Work on   the ground is supported through the time, passion and employment of the local communities we work with.

Unity: We support and embrace everyone within the global family and believe in the power of unity to change the world. Moving towards a vision of 'we' allows us to act and serve from a place of love and compassion.

Sustainability: Our projects reflect our deep respect for the earth and all those who live here. Each project is able to sustain itself over time and provide long-lasting benefits for generations to come. Traditional Values and Knowledge: We believe in the sacred power of traditional healing, wisdom, culture and community. All     projects are rooted in cultural sensitivity and reflect the knowledge of the given community.

Programs:
Through the use of yoga, the healing arts and health education, participants are empowered to heal from the inside out and to facilitate positive change in their communities. Birth Programs improve child and maternal health and restore traditional birthing practices in rural communities through education and birth assistance. Sustainable community development initiatives include a scholarship and skills training program and income generating initiatives for women with HIV /AIDS.
