Story Ideas

The Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival turns 24 this year. We have stories about our history, our contribution to the community, dragon boating through the centuries and our teams – some come for the fun, some for the competition, some for their cause

We anticipate close to 180 teams registering in 2012. Looking forward to these teams returning:

Tao Ti Phat Phish Racing – two friends having coffee thought about formed a dragon boat team. Eight  years later they’re still having fun, raising money for charity and refining their skills on the water.

False Creek Grandragons - team members range in age from their 50s to their 80s and this year they are out to win back the Seniors’ Cup!

Conquering Waves – by conquering waves, they hope to conquer the stigma of mental illness.

Every team tells a story – and they’re happy to tell it to you.

We think our volunteers are great too.  Many have been with us for years – and won’t go home even when their shifts are over! Click on the left menu for some engaging volunteer stories over the years. Call or email me if you’d like to profile a volunteer.
