Practice and Program Postponements

VANCOUVER, BC – March 30, 2020 – 5:00 PM – Dragon Zone Paddling Club has temporarily suspended operations on March 16 until at least April 30. Please read below for details on program and practice revisions, and other general notes.

Practice and Program Revisions

Dragon Boat Practices: January-December or January-June

  • Practices missed between March 16 and when Dragon Zone reopens will be credited with one-time practice slots (i.e. a team that misses 10 practices due to the closure will be credited with 10 practice slots).
  • Practice credits will expire by March 31, 2021 for year-round teams.
  • Practice credits will expire by December 31, 2020 for January-June teams.

Dragon Boat Corporate Intro to Dragon Boat, Package 1, Package 2, Package 3, or Package 4

  • 4 and 8 week package start dates will be adjusted to be 4 or 8 weeks before the Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival’s new tentative date on September 12/13.
  • 16 week package start dates will be adjusted. If we are unable to provide all practices before the races, sessions will continue after the race, or teams will be credited the number of missed practices towards 2021 registrations.

Individual Program Revisions

4, 8, and 16 Week Intro to Dragon Boat and Race Programs

  • Individuals will be rescheduled into new program dates at no charge. A chart of available options will be emailed to all registered participants.

Steering Clinic Level 1 and 2

  • Individuals will be rescheduled into new dates at no charge.

Community Programs, Club Orientations, and Other Programs

  • Postponed until further notice.

Further details and next steps will be emailed out shortly to all registered individuals. Please note that we are only able to answer your questions via email at info@dragonboatbc.ca as our physical offices and docks have been closed.

We express our deepest gratitude to all first responders, medical staff, and public health officials who continue to work hard to safeguard the wellbeing of the public. We send our best wishes to all communities and individuals who have been, and will be further impacted by COVID-19.

As a non-profit organization, we are deeply grateful and thankful for the support from the paddling community, and we apologize for the temporary inconvenience. During these unprecedented times, it is critical we all work together as a community to navigate this situation, and the recovery afterwards. Rest assured that we are working to ensure that we can run safe, exciting, and successful events this year. We look forward to welcoming everyone back as soon as this situation is resolved.
