August 25, 2020

VANCOUVER, BC – August 25, 2020 – In light of the continued developments around COVID-19, Dragon Zone Paddling Club announces the following changes for team boat practice programs.

Practice Updates

Dragon Boat Practices: January-December or January-June

Teams may choose from the following options for their unused portion of 2020 season paid practice fees. Unused portions are calculated based on the package purchased and our temporary closure date on March 16. Only team administrators are authorized to request changes to their fees. Instructions on how to request transfers have been emailed out to team administrators.

  • As advised in May, teams may choose to leave the unused portion of their 2020 practice fee for future use. Teams with a January-June package will have 3 months of practice when we resume team boat operations, and teams with a January-December package will have 9 months of practice remaining when we resume operations. Teams will have the option of when to restart their practices in the calendar year when we resume dragon boat practices.
  • Teams may apply their unused portion of fees against options in the PDF sent out to team administrators, or convert it into gift cards.
  • Teams may request a refund of the unused portion of their 2020 practice fee minus a 25% holdback.

OC-6

OC-6 passholders may choose from the following options for their unused portion of 2020 season paid practice fees. Unused portions are calculated based on when the OC-6 pass was purchased and our temporary closure date on March 16. Individuals must contact info@dragonboatbc.ca to request one of these options below.

  • OC-6 passholders may apply their unused portion of fees against options on the next page or convert it into a gift card.
  • Individuals may request a refund of the unused portion of their 2020 practice fee minus a 25% holdback.
  • Transfer options will not be provided for OC-6, as the OC-6 pass model will be shifting from a individual fee based model, to a team fee based model.

In May, we issued guidance on our programs and races. As originally indicated, any registrations not refunded were automatically transferred for use in 2021.

On June 1, we began a partial reopening of our facilities and programs with small boat programs only. To learn about the measures we are taking for everyone’s safety, please visit dragonboatbc.ca/covid19.

We continue to actively monitor the effects of COVID-19 on a daily basis, and continue to provide updates at dragonboatbc.ca/media and dragonzone.ca/alerts.

While the last few months have been challenging for us as a non-profit organization, we continue to be hard at work to recover from COVID’s impact and pivot our operations accordingly. We thank the community for its understanding and continued support, and we apologize for the temporary inconvenience.
