Try dragon boat in Olympic Village on May 25: Birds Nest Properties Community Paddling Day gets everyone on the water to try one of Vancouver’s most iconic activities!

Vancouver, BC (May 8, 2025) – A toonie just doesn’t go quite as far as it used to- which is why Dragon Boat BC has teamed up with Birds Nest Properties to launch its Birds Nest Properties Community Paddling Day series in Olympic Village on May 25. For just $2 Vancouverites of all ages and backgrounds will get to try dragon boating on False Creek during 45 minute sessions at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00.

Each paddling session at Dragon Boat BC’s docks beside Creekside Community Centre is led by youth volunteers from one of Canada’s top dragon boat teams — Juice — who is the reigning World bronze medallist from the 2024 World Championships in Italy.

Dragon Boat BC also has teamed up with Raincoast Conservation and False Creek Friends for tours on May 25 of Tracker — a custom sprinter van converted into a mobile water quality lab — so that the community can learn about ongoing work to study False Creek water quality, and to experience water science demonstrations.
Registration is now open at the City of Vancouver’s registration site, and info is available at dragonzone.ca/community. Pre-registration is encouraged- same-day drop-ins will be accommodated based on availability on the event day. Other dates in this year’s Birds Nest Properties Community Paddling Day Series will be on July 6 and August 3.
